Edwin Risbourg, born in Belgium in 1975, started playing saxophone at the age of 8.
At 13, after completing solfège, he gained more interest in music theory and harmony. During this time Edwin was introduced to the piano. Although he continued playing saxophone, he spent more time at the keyboard.
When the piano and synthesizer became his main instruments, Edwin took a course in jazz harmony and improvisation at the jazz studio.
While studying music pedagogy at the Lemons Institute Leuven, Edwin played in several bands as a keyboard player.
After completing his studies, Edwin played in a lot of bands, (Funk the System, MIB, Soulmates, BBB, The Jazzophonics) covering a wide range of musical styles.
He also did a lot of session work.
Influenced by the jazzrock & progrock of the seventies, Edwin only used genuine vintage keyboard sounds like Rhodes and Hammond.
His interest in the origin of actual organ sounds made him buy his first real Hammond organ. By playing and learning this instrument he found a new passion that completed it all: Organ driven swing & Swirling grooves.
From then onwards Hammond organ became the center point of his musical projects.
Edwin plays Hammond organ in several jazz- and bluesbands : The BluesBones,The Jazz Baron, Jazz-O-Phonics.
He has his own recording studio with an impressive backline of different Hammond organs, Leslie amps and vintage keyboards.
