René Rooimans is a jazz organist and pianist, born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He is currently based in Hannover, Germany.
René started playing the organ when he was eight years old and was inspired by the music of the Count Basie Big Band, Ella Fitzgerald, Jimmy Smith and Rhoda Scott. He began his musical training in both classical and jazz organ the School of Music in Rotterdam when he was 9 years old.
He has played as pianist and organist in various jazz groups since his youth. In 1988 he had the opportunity to meet his idol, the famous jazz organist Rhoda Scott, and in 1996 participated in a master class with her in Paris.
Currently, René performs in Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. He is a member of the Hannover based jazz trio “Lothar Krist B3.” René works as an Electrical Engineer for a telecommunications company in Hannover. In his spare time he continues to fulfill his musical passion as a jazz organist and pianist.
