John entered the Hammond family as a part of the in-house sales team, but has since taken his talents out on the open road with his band, Mondo Drag. Growing up in a family of musicians, Sophie was destined to start playing music herself. She asked for and was given a keyboard on her eighth birthday and around that time Sophie started to take keyboard lessons at a local music school as well. Her passion for music grew even greater during her teenage years when she also started attending singing classes. It soon became clear to her that she wanted to incorporate music in her professional career and she consequently attended a one-year program in preparation of the conservatory. This program included song writing, music theory and band coaching.
As a native of New Orleans, Michael Burkart developed the foundation of his unique organ style listening to the reggae and street brass bands in the city. He really cemented his reputation as a strong and talented organist by hitting the stages on Bourbon and Frenchman Streets and playing with the same bands and musicians that impressed him as a youngster. He is considered one of the up and coming breed of organists that represent the new guard of the Hammond B3, its heritage and digital progeny. The Mikey B3 Project... His shows always features the Hammond organ, however, the Hammond XK-1c is the perfect replacement keyboard for smaller venues and concerts because it is a perfect balance of sound and size. Over the past 15 years, this veteran musician has shared the stage with:
Luther was first introduced to a Hammond C-3 in a church in Harlem, NY in the 1950s. Up to that time he had been playing large pipe organs and was the high school organist at Brooklyn Tech H.S. which had an Allen pipe organ. The Hammond was love at first touch because of the distinctive sound and the instantaneous touch response, which was outstanding compared to the much slower response of a pipe organ. After high school he never played a pipe organ again, preferring his new organ loves – a slew of stellar Hammond organ models which he has owned over the years since the 1960s, and still plays daily until today.
The first call for the touring, recording and performing Hammond organ and piano community in New Orleans. His history spans over 30 years and is considered the father of New Orleans B-3 Hammond blues organ. He now loves and uses the the XK-1c as his organ replacement.
